CARNOUSTIE Theatre Club stole the show at a drama festival over the weekend.
Judges at the 80th annual Angus District Festival of One-Act Plays organised by the Scottish Community Drama Association in the Webster Memorial Theatre awarded Carnoustie two trophies on Saturday night.
Top prize of the Ian McKay Trophy went to Carnoustie Theatre Club for ‘A Time for Farewells’, a poignant drama by Damian Trasler.
Grant Wilson and Carolyn Harrison played the principal roles, supported by David Cheape and Sam Ruddell, while Peter White acted as stage manager.
The Shiells Trophy for best stage presentation went to Carnoustie Theatre Club’s youth team for ‘All Dolled Up’ by Ian Stewart.
Also taking part for the first time were Stage Stars from Carnoustie who performed ‘Elementary’, a new play by Sarah Leary.
Forfar Dramatic Society were awarded the Kay Fleming Cup for ‘Tippers’ by Gillian Plowman and will join Carnoustie Theatre Club in representing Angus in the Northern Divisional Finals in Aberdeen Arts Centre, March 22 to 24.
Festival organiser John Fraser said: “The participants really enjoyed the event and the excellent facilities here at the Webster Theatre. We wish our local representatives all the best in the next round of the competition.”
