THE RICOH Women’s British Open got under way at Carnoustie early this morning.

And currently, as we approach 2.30 p.m. Thursday, the clubhouse leader is American Brittany Lincicome who recorded a sparkling five under par 67.

Meena Lee shares that lead, although she is still out on the course playing the 13th.

Fellow United States player Angela Stanford is one shot further back after her round of 68, along with another three players.

There are six players tied for seventh place, including Caroline Hedwall, who was the first off this morning at 6.30 a.m.

Scottish hope Catriona Matthew, the ambassador for Carnoustie Country, is three shots off the pace after her opening round of 70.

Defending champion Yani Tseng is two under par after six holes.
