THE ALFRED Dunhill Links tournament will be rolling into Carnoustie at the end of the month and organisers have announced one of the strongest professional line-ups yet, writes Jennifer Newton.
The competition, which begins on September 29, sees major names in golf team up with famous amateurs to play the Championship Course as well as St Andrews and Kingsbarns.
And taking part this year are three of this year’s major winners, Darren Clarke, Rory McIlroy and Charl Schwartzel.
Joining them will be the current world number one and two Luke Donald and Lee Westwood along with other major championship winners including Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Trevor Immelman, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen.
Kaymer was victorious in last year’s competition and he is hoping to become the first golfer to win back to back titles at the tournament.
A host of celebrities from the world of TV, film, music and sport are also set to take part over the three days at Carnoustie.
Entrance to the Dunhill Links at Carnoustie will be free.
