PREPARATIONS are well underway for this year’s Carnoustie Gala Week which begins at the end of the month.
The annual event, which aims to bring together the community within the town, will this year begin on Sunday, June 26, and a variety of activities are planned throughout the week.
The gala will culminate with Gala Day on Saturday, July 2, during which a parade will pass through Carnoustie starting at the Panmure Industrial Estate and ending at Carnoustie House Grounds.
So far there are seven floats in the parade with entertainment which will be provide by Carnoustie Pipe Band and the City of Brechin Pipe Band.
Ceilidh band Gleahraich will also be performing alongside pupils from the Fiona Forbes School of Dance.
And as always there will be other various stalls and amusements run by a number of local organisations in Carnoustie House Grounds.
In the week leading up to Gala Day, a varied mixture of numerous children’s and adults’ activities to mark the celebration have also been planned.
Youngster will get the chance to enjoy a beach treasure hunt, pavement and sand art as well as the ever popular spot the window competition, which begins on Monday.
This is in addition to the darts, dominoes and pool competitions planned along with a songs of praise event and a folk night being held in the Aboukir Hotel.
All the money raised through the gala activities is distributed to local good causes.
