Towns receive Eco-certificates

GROUPS from both Carnoustie and Monifieth have been recognised for their efforts in keeping their towns beautiful.

Carnoustie Community Council and Monifieth Eco Force were presented with bronze medal certificates at a Keep Scotland Beautiful ceremony in Motherwell on Tuesday.

The two towns were competing with 52 others from across Scotland in the 2012 Beautiful Scotland competition and were visited by highly-experienced judges during a national tour in July and August.

The judges examined three themes - horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.
