WORK may be continuing at a pace at the Kinloch site in Carnoustie but traffic build ups are causing a headache for drivers and pedestrians in the area.
The extra congestion in Kinloch Street due to the building work going on at the site along with workers parking their cars nearby is often making the roads surrounding the site gridlocked at various points throughout the day.
One local man told the Guide & Gazette: “It is just ridiculous as there is work going on at the site now seven days a week.
“I understand that people have to park somewhere when they are at their work but it is causing Kinloch Street to be blocked.
“It is getting to the stage where people can’t get past in their cars and pedestrians are having to walk on the road because the pavements are blocked.
“The fire station is also nearby on Kinloch Street and they need constant access.
“Everybody has to get to their work but it would be easier if they parked further away in more sensible places.”
The former Kinloch school site is currently being developed by Angus Council and once finished it will see a brand new care home along with supported housing and a community centre.
A spokeswoman from the council said: “We have asked the contractor in the past to ensure that those working on the site are parking considerately and will remind them again.”
