Carnoustie haulier’s fuel price plea

STEWART Hosie MP and Angus South SNP Parliamentary Candidate Graeme Dey visited Carnoustie-based David Murray Transport on Wednesday to discuss with owner David Murray issues affecting the haulage industry.

And the main topic of conversation was the rising cost of fuel.

Mr Hosie said: “The high price of fuel is a major difficulty for haulage firms and I was delighted to have the chance to discuss with David the SNP’s campaign to persuade the Westminster Government not to introduce the next planned increase in fuel duty and for the introduction of a fuel price stabiliser to bring some sanity back to fuel prices.’’

Mr Dey added: “It’s time Westminster saw sense and eased the pressure both on household budgets and Scotland’s hauliers by tackling the scandalous cost of petrol and diesel.”
