‘In My Father’s Words’, directed by Dundee Rep’s artistic director Philip Howard, is a beautiful play about identity, nationality and language.

It opens at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow on June 19 and runs until June 28, before playing at Dundee Rep Theatre from July 1 until July 12, which will be followed by a Highland tour.

This world premiere by writer and broadcaster Justin Young is part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme.

In the year that the Commonwealth Games come back to Scotland, The Rep presents a play which re-tells the Scottish emigrant story for our times.

Set in an old wooden house by the shore of Lake Ontario in Canada, it tells the story of Louis as he battles with his elderly father’s dementia and the role his father’s carer, Flora plays in unravelling the untold story of his Scottish heritage.

Tickets for the Dundee performances are on sale at Dundee Rep box office 01382 223530 or online www.dundrep.co.uk Tickets for touring venues can only be purchased at participating venues.

‘In My Father’s Words’ contains short Gaelic passages which will be subtitled.
