The Arbroath Relay for Life handed over another massive cheque after raising £45,000 at this year’s event for Cancer Research UK.
On Friday night in the Roayl British Legion’s Green Street hall, the organising committee presented the £45,008 to Richard Cowie, a representative from charity, who was once again bowled over by the amount of money raised.
He said: “We have to say another big thank you to everyone in Arbroath, the committee, the teams and the whole community in Arbroath and the surrounding areas for another amazing Relay for Life.
“We are unable to do the research we do without this marvellous gift.”
The presentation, which was also followed by a party marked organising chair Alana Loudon stepping down and handing over the baton to new chair for 2014, Ian Angus.
And Alana added: “I’m delighted with the amount of money raised.
“Even in this economic climate Arbroath still comes out to support us.
“I’ve had great support being chair and wish Ian all the best for next year.”
