A short performance followed by afternoon tea will take place at Hospitalfield House in Arbroath tomorrow (Saturday). Tickets for this event cost £8.
Beginning at 3.30 p.m. guests will be treated to a short performance of Violet Jacob songs including ‘Halloween’ and ‘The Wild Geese/Norland Wind’.
This event has been organised as part of ‘Tak Tent O Angus’ weekend focusing on the work of Violet Jacob.
Beginning tonight (Friday), the weekend participants will be welcomed by a house tour, followed by dinner and a talk by Lisa Simmons, with poetry and readings from Sheila Mann.
Saturday morning there is a visit to Montrose and The William Lamb Studio, stopping off to see the places which are mentioned in Violet Jacob’s work. The Church of Dun is the next stop c and then back to Hospitalfield House for The Wighton Singers and Sheena Wellington followed by afternoon tea.
In the evening there is a dinner followed by talks and discussion ending with a story before bed.
Sunday morning (including a two-minute silence) the group will be visited by Fiona Sharlau and The Violet Jacob Archive to consult. As well as Lisa Simmons’ own personal archive of personal letters and correspondence written by Violet Jacob in her own hand.
