Proposals by the Boundary Commission to change the boundaries of the current Westminster constituencies could see the number of Scottish seats will fall from 59 to 53.

Dundee East, currently held by the SNP’s Stewart Hosie, would be largely absorbed into a new constituency of Angus Glens and Dundee East.

Mr Hosie could possibly find himself challenging fellow Nationalist Chris Law, MP for Dundee West, for the newly-created Dundee seat or battling Mike Weir, whose current Angus seat covers much of the new Angus Glens and Dundee East seat.

A public consultation on the Boundary Commissions’ proposals lasts for 12 weeks, until January 11, 2017.
