CONGRATULATIONS were extended to the winners of a Fairtrade Can-u-spot it competition this week.
The competition was organised by the Carnoustie Fairtrade Group (CFG) and attracted a large number of entries.
The following five eagle-eyed children were named as winners. They are: Oliver Martin (4), Cari Stormont (7), Greg Oliphant (9), Ailsa Milne (10) and Sarah Oliphant (11).
The organisers also wished to thank all the Carnoustie shops and businesses who participated so willingly in the event.
The town’s commitment to gaining Fairtrade status is gathering speed and it is hoped an application could be made soon.
A spokesperson for the Carnoustie Fairtrade Group said: “Carnoustie’s application for Fairtrade status is being prepared and will hopefully be submitted by the end of October.
“If any businesses, shops, hotels, cafe’s or B&B’s want to register as Fairtrade supporters and have not already done so, CFG would be happy to hear from them as soon as possible.”
A meeting regarding Fairtrade in Carnoustie will be held in the Philip Hall on October 30 at 7.30 p.m.
