A CARNOUSTIE family was involved in a road traffic collision on Wednesday morning on the outskirts of Arbroath.
At around 9.50 a.m. emergency services attended the accident on the B961 between Carmyllie and Redford.
A blue Vauxhall Corsa and a green tractor were involved in the incident.
A seven-year-old boy sustained serious head injuries as a result of the collision. He was freed by firefighters and treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken by ambulance, under police escort, to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
The boy received surgery for a fractured skull and is now recovering in hospital where his condition is described as not life threatening.
The boy was a rear seat passenger in the Corsa. Two other passengers, also children, were unhurt.
The injured boy’s grandmother, aged 61, who was driving the car suffered a minor neck injury. The 48-year-old man who was driving the green-coloured tractor was not hurt.
The road was closed while crash investigators conducted enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
