Aberdeen Performing Arts have announced a new season of behind-the-scenes tours of the city’s Edwardian architectural gem, His Majesty’s Theatre.

The Saturday morning 90-minute tours, which lift the curtain on the inside story of the history and day-to-day workings of the historic theatre, will be held at 10.30am on March 7, 21 and 28; April 4, 11, 18 and 25; May 2 and June 6 and 27.

Numbers are limited to only 20 people per tour, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Under the guidance of enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers, visitors can explore His Majesty’s modern £7.8 million extension as well as the 100-year-old original building, designed by the legendary theatre architect Frank Matcham.

There’s an opportunity to get onstage and get a performer’s-eye view of one of the most beautiful theatres in Britain. Then it’s backstage for a glimpse of the inner workings of a busy theatre – and pick up some inside knowledge of its spooky past.

Tickets for the public tours costs £5 (£3 concession) and can be booked online at by phone on 01224 641122.
