Falkland XI v Forthill XIForthill XI won the Two Counties Cup with a seven-wicket victory over Falkland XI in the final at Doo'cot Park, Perth, last Thursday evening, August 14.
It is only the third time in the competition's 50-year history that the trophy has been held by Forthill XI, the previous wins being in 1980 and 1984.
Falkland XI batted first and got off to a good start, reaching 64 for two in the ninth over, but tight final overs from all the bowlers saw the run-rate reduced as the Fife side finished on 116 for seven from their 20 overs.
In reply, Andy Dalton, 58 not out, led the batting, with Clark McConnachie, 22, and Andy Wallace, 15, both adding valuable runs as Forthill XI overtook the Falkland total in dark conditions with one over remaining.
Result: Falkland XI lost to Forthill XI by seven wickets, Two Counties Cup, final.
Strathearn v Forthill XIReturning to Perth on league business on Saturday, Forthill XI were bowled out for 148 by Strathearn at Doo'cot Park, Elliot McCandless top-scoring with 49 not out, along with useful contributions of 31 from John Findlay and 25 from Dean Fearn.
Strathearn lost four wickets on the way to passing the Forthill XI total, Dean Fearn taking all four in a fine nine over spell.
Result: Strathearn, 25 points, beat Forthill XI, 6 points, by six wickets, Dukes Strathmore and Perthshire Union Division One.
