West Lothian asked 'Shire to bat first in damp conditions in a match reduced to 35 overs a side.

Graeme Garden, 23, and Ryan Watson, 51 off 69 balls, gave the Broughty Ferry side a good start with an opening partnership worth 59. Ryan and Tom Cooper, 51 off 42 balls, then took the total up to 130 before the second wicket fell.

From 130 for two, Robert Cannon, 27, and Umair Mohammed, 24, both added late innings runs to see Forfarshire finish on 208 for six.

Richie Gallagher gave 'Shire an ideal start with the ball, capturing two wickets in the first over before taking a third a few overs later to see West Lothian 13 for three.

Tom Cooper, three for 24, and Ryan Watson, two for 29, accounted for the middle-order as the home side looked to be heading for a sub-100 total, only for a last wicket partnership to frustrate the bowlers through to the close, but without affecting the final outcome.

Result: West Lothian, 0 points, lost to Forfarshire, 10 points, by 67 runs, Lloyds TSB Scotland League Division One.

Forthill v Perthshire

In the Dukes Strathmore and Perthshire Union Premier Division, visitors Perthshire recovered from 82 for five to post a total of 185 for nine at Forthill, Dennis Petrie taking two for 13, along with two for 20 from Warren Hayward and two for 39 from Gordon Walker.

In reply, John Brown marked his last game of the season with a well-timed 92 in a century opening partnership with Warren Hayward, 46, before Tony Weed, 35 not out, secured an eight-wicket victory in the 26th over.

Result: Forthill, 25 points, beat Perthshire, 5 points, by eight wickets, Dukes Strathmore and Perthshire Union Premier Division.

Falkland XI v Forthill XI

Forthill XI won the Two Counties Cup with a seven-wicket victory over Falkland XI in the final at Doo'cot Park, Perth, last Thursday evening, August 14.

It is only the third time in the competition's 50-year history that the trophy has been held by Forthill XI, the previous wins being in 1980 and 1984.

Falkland XI batted first and got off to a good start, reaching 64 for two in the ninth over, but tight final overs from all the bowlers saw the run-rate reduced as the Fife side finished on 116 for seven from their 20 overs.

In reply, Andy Dalton, 58 not out, led the batting, with Clark McConnachie, 22, and Andy Wallace, 15, both adding valuable runs as Forthill XI overtook the Falkland total in dark conditions with one over remaining.

Result: Falkland XI lost to Forthill XI by seven wickets, Two Counties Cup, final.

Strathearn v Forthill XI

Returning to Perth on league business on Saturday, Forthill XI were bowled out for 148 by Strathearn at Doo'cot Park, Elliot McCandless top-scoring with 49 not out, along with useful contributions of 31 from John Findlay and 25 from Dean Fearn.

Strathearn lost four wickets on the way to passing the Forthill XI total, Dean Fearn taking all four in a fine nine over spell.

Result: Strathearn, 25 points, beat Forthill XI, 6 points, by six wickets, Dukes Strathmore and Perthshire Union Division One.
