With an hour on the watch, the Gowfers were made to pay for a succession of missed chances when a long clearance out of the Vics' defence dropped to PEARSON, who strode forward and drilled the ball past McCafferty to put the visitors ahead.
Two minutes later, however, Carnoustie were back on level terms after winning a corner on the left. Conway played the ball right into the goalmouth where HUNTER rose above everyone to power a header into the back of the net.
And Vics claimed victory in 83 minutes when McCafferty made a costly mistake when he was beaten in the chase to a long through ball by PEARSON, who then rounded the stranded 'keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net from the tightest of angles.
Carnoustie almost snatched an equaliser in 86 minutes when McLauchlin just failed to connect with a Clark cross.
In stoppage time, the Gowfers had one last chance when Scott played a high ball into the Vics' goalmouth, but Reid got up well to take it cleanly.

Mark Fotheringham (left) and Gavin Norrie look helpless as the Gowfers' Jon Voigt aims to divide and conquer.
