Forfarshire chose to bat first against Arbroath United in a Scottish National League Division One fixture at Forthill on Saturday.
Craig Wallace (29) and Graeme Garden (21) continued their run of half-century opening partnerships by putting 60 on the board against an Arbroath attack bowling a good line and length early on.
After 30 overs, 'Shire had reached 109 for two and wi
th wickets in hand, there was confidence round the ground of posting a high score.
Ryan Watson took full advantage of the good position and hit a spectacular 140 not out from just 103 balls. His century came from 93 balls before he dispatched the next 10 for another 40 runs, including a reverse sweep for six.
Kelby Pickering provided excellent support at the other end with 27 not out in a century fifth wicket partnership from just 60 balls.
Ryan's ton takes him to the top of the SNCL list of century-makers with 17 to his name, overtaking Sajid Ali.
'Shire's opening attack of Kelby Pickering (two for 7) and Dougie Philip (two for 39) conceded only eight runs off the bat in the first 12 overs and set the tone for the innings as Arbroath never looked like chasing down the target. The home side's 163 run victory was completed in 35.4 overs, Graeme Black taking three for 22 and Henry Philip three for 25.
