At the recent annual general meeting of the East Region Junior Football Association in Inverkeithing High School, many delegates expressed the opinion that the various league cup competitions were becoming stale due to the same teams meeting each other year after year.
Secretary John Reilly was given permission to revamp the qualifying sections and this has resulted in Carnoustie Panmure not meeting any of the sides that they have faced in recent years. They also have no midweek fixtures.

For the Gowfers, the competition gets under way on Saturday, August 8, with an away fixture against Broughty Athletic at Whitton Park. This will be followed on Saturday, August 15, with a home tie against Downfield, and the Laing Park men will round-off their Section Four programme at home to East Craigie on Saturday, August 22.

As before, the winners of each of the four sections go forward to the semi-finals and it is hoped to play these ties on Wednesday, August 26.

In the Buktateamwear.com East Premier League, the Gowfers' first four fixtures are as follows: Saturday, August 29, Arniston Rangers, home; Saturday, September 5, Armadale Thistle, away; Saturday, September 12, Tayport, home; and Saturday, September 19, Forfar West End, away.
All Saturday kick-offs will be at 2.30 p.m.
