CARNOUSTIE YM clinched the North of Tay Cup for the first time in their history with a dramatic last-gasp extra-time goal against SS Peter & Paul on Friday night.
Sean Marner was the YM hero at Dens Park when he fired home a left-foot shot from close range with only two minutes left on the clock. Until his goal Marner looked set to be remembered as the villain of the tie after he missed a penalty in the first
minute of extra- time.

However, a Carnoustie victory seemed unlikely in the early stages of the game. The Dundee side enjoyed the majority of the possession and striker Andy Coogan was unlucky to see his header come off the post in the first half. Coogan went on to have two further chances but failed to find a way past Ramsay.

The second half was for more level if far from exciting as the central defenders of both sides snuffed out any chances.

After the missed opportunity from the penalty spot in extra-time YM continued to apply pressure to the Paulies defence. And, just as time looked to be slipping away, Marner spun shapely in the box following James Brown's corner and stabbed the ball home from six yards.

Team: Ramsay, Harrison, Robertson, Miller, Christie, McDonald, Bissett, McFarlane, Marner, G. Beattie, Thain. Substitutes: J. Beattie, Neave, Brown.
