Monifieth's Ian Hutcheon is always a difficult man to beat over his home Medal Course and so it proved last Thursday and Friday in the East of Scotland Seniors' Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship.
Despite giving the rest of the field a chance with a disappointing opening 76, defending champion Hutcheon fought back strongly in the second round with a three-under-par 68 to retain the title by two strokes with a 36-hole aggregate of 144.

Tony McIntyre, Lundin, was runner-up on 146, while David J. Miller, Kilmarnock Barassie, and David Smith, Stirling, shared third place on 147.

The CSS was 75 for the first round, and 73 for the second.
