BROUGHTY Ferry Judo Club is running a two-day course for its members and others on February 13/14, with World Masters Champion Dave Revely, 5th Dan as guest instructor.
Club coach Dave Hammond is expecting members to be joined by judoka from Brechin, Glasgow and Edinburgh for the event, which will also be a grading opportunity for members.

Revely is one of the top exponents of kata in Europe, but is also a hugely
successful fighter, having gained a silver medal in the World Masters tournament.

Based in Durham, he has been a regular attendee at the Scottish Borders Summer school, but this will be his first visit to the Broughty Ferry club which has already received visits from Simon Mazzullo, 6th Dan and Ian Evans, 5th Dan.

"It is very exciting having an instructor as good as Dave coming to visit us," said Mr Hammond, himself a second dan.

"Dave has a very good way with him as far as instructing is concerned and is remarkably fit. He still competes at masters judo, so I am sure he will have a thing or two up his sleeve for us."

It is a sign of the strength of the Broughty Ferry club that they can attract such a well respected coach to their Forthill Sports Centre dojo.

Mr Hammond added: "We are definitely moving in the right direction and from next month we will be increasing our mat time and opening a junior section."

Anybody interested in taking up judo is welcome to contact Mr Hammond on 07525 451 454 or visit the website at www.dundeejudo.co.uk
