Dundee angler Tam Barr visited Carlogie Dam recently and had a very good night's fishing.
After bagging his two fish limit, he went on to catch and release some more and hooked into a large fish, which leapt out of the water and that's when he saw it was a goldie.
Ten minutes later, the fish was on the bank and having already paid his
£1 into the pot Tam was able to claim his £100. The fish weighed-in at six pounds eight ounces.
The competition for the A.C. Sturrock Pairs Trophy was held at the dam on Sunday and with 10 pairs taking part it was a full house.
In addition to the £600 prize money, the first two char caught were worth £100 each. Mike Broomfield, Ferryden, caught one on his first cast and 20 minutes later his fishing partner Sandy McAllan, Arbroath, caught the second.
Overall winners of the competition were Dave Simpson and Steven Duncan, both Forfar, with 21 fish for 57 pounds 12 ounces.
Mike Broomfield and Sandy McAllan were second with 20 fish for 54 pounds five ounces, Fraser Robertson and Kevin Duncan, both Forfar, third with 18 fish for 49 pounds four ounces, and John Orr and George Nicoll, both Carnoustie, fourth with 10 fish for 24 pounds 10 ounces.
