MONIFIETH'S MARTIN IS TOP LOCAL

MIDLAND Golfers' Alliance held their first competition of 2010 on Thursday at Lundin Links Golf Club, Fife, where Monifieth's Martin Brown was again the top local player with a third place finish in the scratch section.
The +2 handicapper carded a level-par 71, four behind Ladybank assistant professional Alan Lockhart, and three more than runner-up Montrose assistant pro Graham Brown.

John Leddy, Bathgate, won the handicap section with a net 65, playing off nine.


The team competition was won by Paul Brookes (P), Pitreavie, Dennis Redford, Murrayshall, (8), Chris Westland, Alloa, (11) and Davie Huchieson, Murrayshall, (6), with a score of 57.

The next meeting is over the Buddon Links Course, Carnoustie, on Thursday, February 11, with tee-times from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Host club is Caledonia GC. Because yesterday's outing at Arbroath was cancelled due to the frosty conditions, the William Hill team competition will be contested at Buddon.
