Thunder and lightning threatened to disrupt the Carnoustie Open Bowling Tournament finals afternoon at the Maule Street green on Saturday.
But the storm, which broke shortly after play started at 2 p.m., quickly moved through the area and all three competitions concluded on schedule.

Ladies' singles champion was Kathleen Gordon, of the Abbey Club, Arbroath, and the gents' singles win
ner was Darren Smith, Montrose. Christine Kennedy, Woodend Glasgow, and Mike Black, Carnoustie West End, were the respective runners-up.

Colin Stott and Philip Nicoll, Brechin, won the open pairs competition, defeating Chris Fotheringham, unattached, and Paul Lindsay, Baxter Park, in the final.

Dave Robertson received the Skol Trophy for the Carnoustie member progressing farthest in the gents' singles, and Caroline Ruxton picked up the Charlie Taylor Salver for a similar achievement in the ladies' singles.

Robert Torrie, snr, and Mike Black, Carnoustie West End, were awarded the Alpha Boilers Shield for the most successful local partnership in the open pairs.
