THIS week at Carlogie Dam, Derek Birse, from Forfar, caught 11, returned eight and kept three weighing 7lbs 8oz on a bloodworm.
Walter Senior, Aberdeen, caught 13, returned nine and kept four weighing 12lbs 4oz on a W.S.W; Davy Wood, from Aberdeen, caught 20+, returned 20+ and kept four weighing 9lbs 10oz on a W.S.W; S McDonald, Newburgh, caught 13, returned 10 and kept three weighing 6lbs 8oz on lures and buzzers; Jock Ewing, from Aberdeen, caught nine, returned five and kept four weighing 9lbs on a W.S.W; J. Nesmith, Spittalfield, caught five, returned two and kept three weighing 5lbs 8oz on a bloodworm; B. Crossey, from Carnoustie, caught and kept two weighing 3lbs 12oz on a pink lure; and P. Wyeth, also Carnoustie, caught and kept two weighing 4lbs 2oz on a pink lure.
On catch and release were: Frank Ferrier, from Arbroath, who had 17 on bloodworm; David Moonie, Dundee, who had 18 on bloodworm; Wayne Scott, Dundee, who caught 15 on bloodworm; Dave Thoms, Carnoustie, had 14 on lures; R. Grubb, from Dundee, 10 on buzzers; Scott Watson, Muirdrum, caught 10 on buzzers; Dave Roy, from Barnhill, had 10 on buzzers; Ally Stewart, Dundee, 15 on lures; W. Milne, Forfar, 12 on a dancer; D. Glover, from Dundee, had 10 on a bloodworm; and Les Gall, Dundee, five on lures.
THE RECENT sunny, mild spell of weather encouraged a good number of anglers to visit Kingennie.
On Saturday the Boathouse Pool produced 11 fish for a total weight of 58lbs 4oz. Top return went to Liam Yule who caught two rainbows for 17lbs. These were taken on a mini damsel fished on a sinking line and the bigger fish weighed 10lbs 8oz.
On Sunday S. Green took three rainbows for 21lbs 8oz; he also returned an excellent brownie estimated at around 3lbs.
The best catches of the week on the Burnside Pool were taken on Saturday in the Burnside Competition.
The clear winner was Davie Simpson with four fish for 8lbs 5ozs and a further 18 fish on catch and release. Second was young Robert Gibson with four for 7lbs 5ozs and three returned. George Birse took third with four fish for 7lbs and 3 returned.
The next qualifier is on Saturday, April 6. There are only 10 rods allowed so get those names rolling in.
During the week George was again amongst the fish with 11 on catch and release. Yellow Dancer and Hot Head Damsel were the most successful lures.
The Bankside Pool proved quite challenging on several days with plenty of fish showing but refusing to take most flies offered. However, Keith Prior managed to land 10 (catch and release) and John Barr released six. Nymphs and small lures produced the majority of fish.
Woodside Pool (bait/spinning pool) again saw most fish taking green powerbait, although spinning with a small Mepps type bladed spinner produced some decent fish. Mr McDonald had four fish for 7lbs 8oz; Damien took four for 7lbs and Mr.Glen had three for 6lbs 8oz.
