Carnoustie Athletic 4, Gallowhill AFC 3
AN INJURY time winner from striker Ryan Brown sent Carnoustie Athletic flying into the next round of the Scottish Amateur Cup.
Following their 3-1 replay victory over Kirriemuir they hosted Paisley and District side Gallowhill AFC.
The visitors came flying out of the blocks and found themselves a goal ahead after just five minutes.
A poor goal kick by GaryMcLeod floundered in midfield and the Athletic ‘keeper could only watch as his defence was washed away by a flowing Gallowhills strike led by Christopher Hamilton and an unmarked Raymond McCALL.
Carnoustie were soon level after 13 minutes when Stevie Petrie squared the ball to Ryan Brown who was unlucky not to score from inside the box but Grant MUIR was alert enough to knock in the rebound.
Gallowhill continued to have the better of the early exchanges, but Carnoustie created some space at the 22 minute mark to allow Petrie to feed the ball down the right wing to Muir who set it up for BROWN to slam it past ‘keeper Watson.
It was end to end stuff with the home side taking control, but nearing the half time whistle Gary Tindal was adjudged to have committed a handball and Gallowhill’s Graeme MARKIE slotted the resulting penalty to tie the score.

At the restart Carnoustie continued to attack, but on 61 minutes a tackle on Scott McGowan allowed an unmarked McCALL to slip through and power home a shot from six yards.
Manager Bill Ewing decided to freshen things up and brought on Sean Jimminson for Daniel Mellon and Kevin McKenzie for Ross Bews.
Gallowhill’s defence eventually gave as ‘keeper Watson failed to hold onto a Ben Etchells cross allowing Scott McGowan to head it out to BROWN who managed to find the back of the net.
Things deteriorated for Gallowhills as Christopher Pappin found himself on the wrong side of a red card for showing dissent.
It looked like a replay would be needed as the game entered injury time but Etchells again set up a sweet pass which found BROWN in position to make it a hat trick.
