Gibson has brought in four new players and is keen to sign two more as he looks to build a squad capable of making the step up from Premier to Super League.

The acquisitions of Paul McLellan, Grant Lawson, Jake Mair and Stewart McConnachie will go a long way to achieving that goal.

Gibson said: ”We’re still looking to bring in another two. We’ve had two sessions now and the boys are all looking good, they’re looking sharp.

“They’ve had a good wee break and some good sessions already. We start on July 18 against Arbroath Vics away, then at home to North End on Tuesday 21, Montrose Roselea away on Saturday 25, then home to Forfar U20s on the 28th, and then we’re away to Morecambe reserves on August 1.

“It’s worked out great because we play them at noon and their first team play Liverpool in a friendly at 3pm so we’re getting to take that in and get some hospitality. It’s good to get away for the weekend as well for a bit of team bonding.

“We’re building for the Super League and we’re building well.”
