CARNOUSTIE Panmure manager Ian Gilzean sees no problems ahead, providing his team continue their current form.

After destroying Coupar Angus in an 8-0 blitzkrieg on Saturday, and considering their previous scorelines, he perhaps has the right to be confident.

However, Ian did admit that the Gowfers did not have the best of starts.

He explained: “We actually didn’t start that great. We were a bit ropey and not as good as the last couple of games. After the first goal we started to relax a bit though.”

Ian added: “It was a good all round performance, and a clean sheet is good for the back four and the goalie.”

The Gowfers could be poised for a nail-biting finale in their DJ Laing Cup Group A decider when they face Kirrie Thistle tomorrow (Saturday).

Ian said: “If Kirrie win tonight (Wednesday) against Forfar, it could come down to a shoot out on Saturday.

“I don’t think the margin of victory will be as great against them, but if we approach the game in the right manner as we have been doing, then I don’t see any problem.

“We have superior goal difference, so I suppose a draw might be enough to take the win.

“Kirrie Thistle are always at the top end of the table and can give most teams a run for their money, it’s just consistency that lets them down.”

The Gowfers’ gaffer is happy to let the dice fall where they will against Kirrie, confident as he is in the ability of his players.

He added: “I think we should let other teams worry about us. If we play to the standard that we have been, then we are capable of giving anyone a game.

“We need to keep everything sharp, do it right and when the chances come along stick it in the back of the net.

“That is why we are in the position that we are at the moment.”
