IT WAS another bad end of season week for the local teams, with only Carnoustie YM beating Tayside Fire Brigade in the George Buckman Premier Division and champions Broughty United ‘B’ hitting six past Carnoustie YM in the A.M. Phillip Alliance League Division One.
Monifieth missed out on a final place, losing to Inchture Amateurs in their Carne Trophy semi-final.
Controversy surrounds the relegation outcome in the Premier Division. It is understood in Broughty United’s last game where they lost 7-2 to St James, the Dundee side mistakenly played an ineligible player.
With United appealing within the allowed time, it is likely the Ferry side will be awarded the three points from last night’s Midlands Executive Committee meeting which would mean that Broughty escape relegation, but would mean that Merpro or Menzieshill, who thought their season had finished safely, would have to fight out a play-off for the second relegation spot filled by Broughty at present, assuming that the Ferry side’s appeal is up held.
