The gaffer is in a good mood this week as the Gowfers’ cup campaign took another step on the road to silverware.
After a five-goal thriller at Laing Park, Panmure emerged victorious over Maryhill Juniors, much to manager Alan McSkimming’s relief.
He said: “I feel relieved to be honest. It was third time lucky for us against Maryhill, and all two and a half games were really difficult ones but in the end I think our quality came through.
“We probably started the game better. For the first 25 minutes or so I feel were the dominant side but we just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net.
“At half-time I asked the boys to pull together and show a bit of character and they came out all guns blazing.”
Tomorrow (Saturday) Panmure are at home to league heavy-hitters Linlithgow Rose.
Alan said: “I think when anybody plays Linlithgow they are always the favourites and it’s not going to be different when they come here.
“We know they are beatable, as we have beaten them in the past, but they are undefeated still in this league.
“This is another league game but the more important thing for us is to put in another good performance.”
He concluded: “I’m confident we can get something if we can play as well as I know we can. There’s a good buzz going around the club just now.”
