Good results for local amateur teams in weekend cup competitions

IN LOCAL cup matches played at the weekend, Carnoustie Athletic recorded an excellent win over Premier Division side Menzieshill in the Ferrari’s Shield, and in the Mel Ross Trophy, Broughty United ‘B’ and Barnhill both managed wins to progress to the next rounds.

An excellent win for Broughty against Invergowrie in the George Buckman Premier Division moved them three places off the bottom of the table. Goals from Marc McGuire, Craig Stevenson and Ryan Carling secured the points.
