Gowfers are riding high, says McSkimming

Carnoustie boss Alan McSkimming is looking to continue the high after his side romped to victory against Armadale on Saturday.

The Gowfers came back from 2-0 down to win decisively at Laing Park. Alan said: “I was delighted. If you look at the scoreline we ended up 5-2, and I’m positive we could have scored more.

“When we were 2-0 down early in the first half we were still playing most of the football and dominating the game.”

He continued: “Credit to the players. We gave them a task to go out and play in the second half in a particular way, to keep the ball on the ground and they did that and we came away with those five goals.

“I think what’s most positive from our side of it is seeing the things we are working on in training, that never give up attitude and team spirit, are working. Saturday showed just how far we’ve come on.”

Tomorrow (Saturday) Carnoustie will replay their weather postponed GA Engineering Cup fixture against Lochee United. Alan said: “Obviously we’re on a high after the performance on Saturday and we’ll take all the positive things into this game.

“We’ll go there full of confidence, the last time they beat us 2-0 so we’ve got a point to prove here.

“This is a cup we want to go all the way in.”
