Alan McSkimming has welcomed four new players to Laing Park as the Carnoustie boss builds one of the strongest squads of his tenure.
The Gowfers gaffer believes he is just one more signing away from boasting the best set of players he’s had at his disposal in his time at the club after Scott Gray, Alan Cormack, Gordon MacDonald and Jamie McCabe joined up with the side.
McSkimming wants another forward option to take his squad to the desired number but added that long-term target Gray will have lots of goals in him this season.
He said: “I think Scott’s a real top signing for us, he’s a real top player too. He’s been coached at the top level, he’s been at Dunfermline for the best part of 10 years since primary school right through.
“He was at Lochee last season because he moved up here for university. We tried numerous times to get him in and eventually we’ve got him in.
“I think he’s a good fit for what we need, I think he’s got goals and from what we’ve seen of him so far he’s fitting in really well.
“We’ve got big expectations for him because I know what he can do, but I’m also excited to see what he can do.
“We’d like to add one more. We’re looking for a forward/striker option.
“Another signing would take us to the 18/19 man squad I’m looking for.
“I’m very happy with what we’ve brought in and with what we’ve already got here.
“We’ve had a few sessions and we need to work really hard for the rest of pre-season through the friendlies and into the league campaign.”
