Carnoustie Panmure will need to hit the ground running next month if their opening schedule is any indication of the difficulty of next season.

The start of the new 2014/15 junior season is fast approaching and gets underway with it’s only midweek fixture, on Wednesday, August 6, with the Gowfers facing a trip to Thomson Park to meet Lochee United.

Greg Birmingham from East Craigie, Gavin Thomson from Forfar Athletic, Sam Simpson from Montrose FC, Mark Kohler from Broughty.

This is followed, just three days later, on Saturday, August 9, when they play host to Armadale Thistle.

Saturday, August 16, sees them off to Carmuirs Park to meet Camelon Juniors and on August 23 Broxburn Athletic come calling which is followed by a trip to one of the three Beechwood Parks, on the Junior circuit, to meet Sauchie Juniors.

The Gowfers and Camelon could perhaps be excused if they were to say that they were sick of the sight of each other.

They met four times last season, twice in the league as well as in the Scottish and the DJ Laing, East of Scotland Cup, they were again paired with each other when the draw for the first round of the coming season’s East of Scotland Cup was made, back in June.

The Mariners are favoured with home advantage and a date for this tie will be announced in due course.

On a more positive note, the first of the Gowfers’ new signings for the coming season have been announced with Greg Birmingham coming from East Craigie, Gavin Thomson from Forfar Athletic, Sam Simpson from Montrose FC, Mark Kohler from Broughty and Daniel Neath whose last club was Dundee University AFC.
