Gowfers’ gaffer Alan McSkimming wasn’t exactly singing in the rain last week as bad weather forced the cancellation of their game.
It was a wasted trip to Camelon Juniors on Saturday, but the boss is a little more sanguine now. He joked: “The weather forecast was fairly accurate. It said it was going to be raining and it was!
“When we turned up there I would say that around 90 per cent of the pitch was playable but there were areas with three or four inches of water on them.
“Credit to the referee he waited as long as he could to make a decision but it became apparent that it would be called off due to health and safety concerns.”
The call off may have come at a bad time for Panmure.
Alan explained: “Sometimes the rest is good to have. However, we’re on a good run with a bit of momentum and we’re just wanting to play the games as fast as we can. Especially after the defeat last Saturday, that would have been a good opportunity to get that off our chests.
“But we had a really good training session on Monday and we’ve forgotten about it and are focussing on the game against Maryhill Juniors.”
Tomorrow’s (Saturday) visit to Maryhill is their second tie in the Scottish Junior Cup.
Alan said: “We’re taking a full strength squad down there and playing against a team outwith our league.
“We’ll have to adapt to that and if we play any way like I know we can I’m full of confidence that we will go on in the Scottish Cup.”
