A late comeback from Sauchie Juniors condemned Broughty Athletic to a frustrating 3-2 home defeat on Saturday.

It was uncertain whether the game was going to take place due to the brutal weather but the Whitton Park fixture got the go-ahead early in the morning.

The Fed were lively from the start and Jordan Tapping and David Morrison were both called into action in the Sauchie defence.

Kevin Buchan and Brian Duell were proving to be a handful for the visitors but Gary McCulloch and Anthony McTaggart were on hand with superb challenges.

But against the run of play it was the away team who took the lead, Darren Cummings converting from close range after McCulloch had played him in on six minutes.

The lead didn’t last long though as Buchan fired home after receiving Bryan Duell’s flick-on.

And Broughty took the lead soon after when Grant Lawson curled the ball into top corner from the edge of the box, a simply fantastic strike from the Fed forward.

Buchan had a pop from range but Jordan Allan denied him as the hosts dominated possession.

A Sauchie player was fouled about 30 yards from goal and Sauchie skipper Brian Morgan hammered an unstoppable free kick low into the goal for 2-2.

Substitute Iain Diack then got the winner as a long ball from the back forced a goalkeeping error, with Diack able to bundle home into an empty net.

Lawson missed a chance at a leveller at the back post before Buchan forced a great save out of Allan.
