CARNOUSTIE Panmure boss, Ian Gilzean, on Monday signed former Carnoustie YM player, Harry Neave, on a two-year deal.
The player has been training with the Gowfers pre-season and the manager believes he deserves a step up to the juniors after having played amateur for most of his career, although he did have a short spell with Forfar West End when he first started.
Mr Gilzean told the Guide & Gazette: “Harry is on board for this coming season and the next. He is a centre forward, though he can also play front wide, either on the left or the right. We needed a couple of striking options, so this was my first move.
“He puts himself about and is another local lad to add to the squad. I reckon he deserves his chance.”
There are another couple of players training with the Gowfers’ squad and they might yet feature in the manager’s plans. He is also thinking about loan players.
He said: “There are four players who I would like to bring in, but we just do not know what will happen as yet. Some of them are signed for other teams.
“There is another week before our first competitive match, against Milton Amateurs, from Stirling, and I am keen to add to the squad. However, I will not bring in players just for the sake of it. They must be good enough.”
