No joy for Gowfers in Fife

Kelty Hearts 2, Carnoustie Panmure 1

Carnoustie Panmure travelled to Central Park last Wednesday to meet Kelty Hearts in the East Superleague.

The Gowfers kicked off and made all the early running with Dailly firing in a low drive, but Fleming made a great save and then made another one when Dailly hit the rebound. Then Dailly took a pass from MacDonald and drilled the ball into the net, but was flagged for offside.

In 14 minutes Kelty took the lead when the ball was fed through to D. GRAY who drove it past the advancing Allardyce. Just before the break MacDonald took a pass from Roberts and fired in a great shot, but again Fleming made an excellent save.

Half time: Kelty Hearts 1, Carnoustie Panmure 0.

Before the second half got underway, the home side made their first change with Hazel replacing A. Gray. In 57 minutes the Gowfers also made a change with Dailly being replaced by McIlravey.

Two minutes later Millar sent a free-kick across the face of the goal, but none of his teammates could make contact and the chance was lost. In 71 minutes the Gowfers levelled the tie when M. SCOTT hit a free-kick, from about 35 yards out, into the back of the net with the aid of a slight deflection.

Four minutes later Kelty made another change with Duffin making way for Winiarski. In 77 minutes, Allardyce made a great save from Hazel, who looked well offside, and turned the ball round his left-hand post, but when the corner came over HAZEL got to it first and drove it into the net to put Kelty back in front.

With nine minutes left the Gowfers made their second change with MacDonald making way for Collins. There were no more real chances at either end and when the referee blew the whistle the Gowfers were left to rue the early missed chances.
