A CARNOUSTIE footballer is hoping that breaking into the SPL could be the beginning of a fantastic career.

Central midfielder Graham Webster impressed Dundee FC management last season and after three appearances has made it to the first team pool. Graham explained: “I was in the under-19s when the club went into administration and 11 or 12 players left the club. So it meant a few of the youth players got a chance, so I was pushed up quite early.

“My greatest moment has to be making my debut, being 17 and having supported the club since I was a young boy. It was like a dream come true playing in front of 5,000 fans. Up there with that would be signing my first contract for the club.”

Graham’s idols are Lionel Messi and fellow midfielder Steven Gerrard, but there is also inspiration closer to home. He said: “It’s good to have people like Kevin McDonald from Carnoustie making it down in England, I would hope to do as well as him in the near future.”
