Quickfire 19s grab semi-final slot

FERRY Under-19s lost out in their round four Scottish cup match against Campsie Black Watch last weekend and in the local cup ties, only Ferry Under 14s and Carnoustie Under 19s won their quarter-final ties, with Monifieth, Ferry and Carnoustie Under 13s and Monifieth Under 14s all losing out.

Carnoustie Under-19s cruised into the semi-finals of the J. Cord Cup with a comprehensive win over Fairmuir at Carlogie Park on Sunday.

The home team were fast out of the blocks and took the lead in the first five minutes when Ben Cushnie crashed the ball home from a corner.

Carnoustie completely dominated the first half and had two shots cleared off the line before Dale Kennedy doubled their advantage midway through the half.

Despite the Fairmuir ‘keeper making several good saves, Dale Kennedy grabbed a further two before the break to complete his hat-trick and bring his tally to 23 in 12 games.

Fairmuir competed better in the second half without ever troubling Josh Allardyce in the Carnoustie goal. Further goals from Cammy Stephen and a 25 yard drive from Robbie McLean completed the scoring.

There were several good performances and a lot of positives to take from the display. Carnoustie now eagerly await the semi-final draw next week. This Sunday sees the Under-19s play host to Letham Tangerine in an eagerly anticipated top of the table clash and it promises to be a big game.
