Alan McSkimming was thrilled to see his Carnoustie Panmure side thrash East Craigie 6-0 in the GA Engineering Cup on Saturday, but the gaffer said they should have scored a lot more.
The Gowfers manager said his players missed a lot of easy chances while scoring some terrific goals.
He said: “To be honest, we scored six goals and we’re obviously delighted with that, but being really critical we should have scored a lot more goals - and that’s not being disrespectful to East Craigie. We created a lot of chances that I expected us to score goals from.
“It was a good performance though and an important one for us, because we have struggled previously to play lower division teams. It was good to go and show our league status. This is a historical thing for us over four or five seasons where we’ve struggled against lower division sides.”
This week the Gowfers host Newtongrange Star and while the side is struggling right now, Alan knows how good they can be - though he admits it’s as good a time to play them as any.
He added: “Let’s not be thrown into false illusion of what this Newtongrange side are all about - they will be up there at the end of the season because they’re a top side with great players. But, while they’re on a slump in form right now we have to take advantage.”
