WEATHER FREEZES OUT GOWFERS

The weather was again the winner on Saturday, bringing the cancellation of Panmure’s G.A. Engineering Cup game against Lochee United.

Gowfers’ secretary Andy Findlay received a ‘phone call at about 11.30 a.m. from his opposite number at Lochee to say that, although they had put down covers in the goalmouths, the pitch was still frozen.

They brought in a local referee to undertake a pitch inspection and after a good look at the surface he announced it was unplayable.

Tomorrow’s match

After last week’s disappointing late call-off against the Bluebells, tomorrow (Saturday), the Gowfers are back on the hunt for points when they welcome Armadale Thistle to Laing Park for a match in the McBookie.com East Superleague.

The Lothian’s club is one of the four which gained promotion at the end of last season.

They will no doubt be keen to establish themselves in the top flight so the Gowfers can look to having another tough encounter, but with home advantage and showing the form they have demonstrated recently, victory should be on the cards. Kick-off will again be at 1.45 p.m.
