Weather puts paid to friendly

ARRIVING at Laing Park on Tuesday morning for their scheduled friendly against Tayport, the Gowfers’ committee found some parts of the pitch flooded, as a result of heavy overnight rain and this, coupled with the gale force wind, gave them no option other than to cancel the match.

Tomorrow’s match.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the Gowfers will try, for the third time, to play their tie against Lochee United in the ACA Sports East Super League. With their previous two attempts in mid-December having fallen foul of the weather, they will be hoping that it’s a case of third time lucky and the tie gets the go-ahead. Kick-off is scheduled for 1.45 p.m.

Broughty match cancelled

AFTER the cancellation of their friendly against Blairgowrie on January 2, Broughty Athletic had to manage with two training sessions before tomorrow’s, Premier League match at home to league leaders, Tayport, in their first fixture of 2012.

The Fed currently lie fifth in the league, six points behind Tayport. Kick-off is at 1.45 p.m.
