Gowfers idle again!

FOR THE fourth time in five weeks Carnoustie Panmure had no competitive game on Saturday as their league fixture against Lochee United, along with all the others, was frozen off.

With all local grassed areas also frozen solid, manager Ian Gilzean took his troops for a session on the beach, using the facilities at the Leisure Centre for changing and showering.

Further fixtures have now been issued and these are as follows: Saturday, December 8, at home to Linlithgow Rose in the McBookie.com East Superleague; Saturday, December 15, away to Lochee Harp in the first round proper of the G.A. Engineering Cup; Saturday, December 22, away to Glenrothes in the first round of the John Walker East of Scotland Cup; and Saturday, December 29, away to Sauchie Juniors in the league.

‘Shire lose opening

FORFARSHIRE made a disappointing start to this season’s Clubsport Indoor Sixes Cricket League, losing both their opening fixtures at the Mayfield Sports Centre, Dundee, last Wednesday.

A 33-run defeat from defending champions Arbroath was followed by a 17-run reverse against Rossie Priory.

Results: Arbroath 100, Forfarshire 67; Rossie Priory 80, Largo 62; Rossie Priory 55, Forfarshire 38; Arbroath 98, Largo 57.
