CARNOUSTIE High School pupil Nicola McKenzie (pictured) has been selected as part of the Scotland Junior Volleyball squad which will travel to Cyprus on Wednesday (April 4) to take part in the CEV European Small Nations Championship.

Nicola lives in Carnoustie and plays volleyball at National League level with Dundee Volleyball Club as well as at district level with Arbroath Volleyball Club.

She has received funding from Angus Council and Arbroath Volleyball Club to allow her to participate in the event.

Last year, the Carnoustie High School team of which Nicola is captain, won the Scottish Schools’ Volleyball Cup.

In January Nicola was selected to represent Scotland in the qualifying round of the CEV Small Countries Championship and travelled to Malta to take part. The team came in second, winning two of their three games to get through to the final in Cyprus. Nicola is the setter for the team.

RESULTS: Under-13s: Riverside 1, Carnoustie Panmure 4.

There are now no fixtures for two weeks.

The annual presentation night takes place at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on Friday, May 11.
