THE CARNOUSTIE Claymores held their inaugural presentation evening last Saturday at the David Lloyd Gym, Ethiebeaton, Monifieth, when Graeme Dey MSP presented awards to swimmers who had excelled in the first year of the club’s existence.

Prize winners were: Dolphins outstanding achievement award - Eryn Torrie; Sharks outstanding achievement award - Hannah Ingram; Junior Squad outstanding achievement award - Joshua Mitchell; club person of the year - Abbie Low and Ruadhan Jones; male swimmer of the year - Paul Thomson and female swimmer of the year - Tristyn Jones.

Nine and under League Award: 1, Adam Scott; 2, Ryan Duncan and 3, Chloe Cameron.

10 - 12 years (Grade 2) League Award: 1, Morgan Docherty; 2, Chloe Brown and 3, Drew Christie.

10 - 12 years (Grade 1) League Award: 1, Joshua Mitchell; 2, Paul Thomson and 3, Tristyn Jones.

13 years and over League Award: 1, Cameron Taylor; 2, Dan Cattanach and 3, Blaidd Jones.

Head coach Andy Johnston commented: “The night was a huge success and I am particularly proud of all the swimmers involved with the club.

“There was a great family atmosphere on the night with everyone getting involved with the traditional dancing that comes with holding a ceilidh night. A massive thank you to Santa Claus for coming along and taking the time to give all the kids a present as I know he is very busy at this time of year!”

He went on: “Thanks must also go out to all the parents and our sponsors for their continuing support throughout a hugely successful first year for the club.

“The club managed to raise £642 on the night which will be put towards the hiring of swimming pool time for next year.”
