CARNOUSTIE’S Katy McNicoll achieved her highest finish as a professional, climbing to joint third on 208 at the Dinard Ladies’ Open at Dinard Golf Club in Saint Briac sur Mer, Brittany, last weekend.
With earlier scores of 71 and 72, she then had a great final round of four-under par 65 for 208, earning 1,565 euros. In the final round she birdied the long second, third, eighth, 10th and 16th and had one bogey, at the sixth with an outward half of 34 (two under par) and an inward half of 31 (two under par).
FORFARSHIRE made the short journey to Lochlands Cricket Ground, home of Arbroath United Cricket Club, on Sunday to get the 2012 season started and lost a well contested friendly by three wickets with 11 balls remaining.
Batting first, Forfarshire were bowled out for 141 in the 38th over with Craig Wallace (41 from 60 balls) and Dean Fearn (23 from 43 balls) sharing a useful fifth wicket partnership of 53.
At 78 for 6 after 25 overs, Forfarshire looked to have the upper hand over Arbroath, but with opening bat McLean still at the wicket and the ‘Shire bowlers contributing 21 wides to the scoreline, Arbroath reached their target in the 39th over, McLean finishing on 75 not out.
