Have your say

Angus Council Sports Development Team needs your nominations for the Angus Sports Awards 2012, in association with Angus Ahead.

The event is taking place on Tuesday, March 5, at the Reid Hall, Forfar. With less than a week to go until the closing date for nominations the Development Team is reminding all possible nominators to get their completed nomination forms in as soon as possible.

The Angus Sports Awards 2012 are designed to honour those involved in sport across Angus from players, athletes and coaches through to administrators and volunteers. Without these people sport would not flourish as it does across Angus – this is your chance to say a big thank you!

Nominations are required in six categories:

l Sports Personality of the Year sponsored by Auchterhouse Country Sports. This award aims to recognise the achievements of a top sports performer in 2012. This includes performers who compete on paralympic and elite levels (must be aged 18 or over).

l Young Sports Personality of the Year sponsored by Radio Tay – Cash For Kids. This award aims to recognise the achievements of a top junior sports performer in 2012 (not reached 18 years of age by December 31, 2012).

l Coach of the Year sponsored by Coachingangus. This award aims to recognise the achievements and commitment of a sports coach in 2012. This award applies to coaches at all levels.

l Service to Sport Award sponsored by Angus College. This award aims to recognise someone who has made an outstanding contribution to sport in Angus as administrator, official, coach or helper over a number of years.

l Team of the Year sponsored by McDonalds. This award aims to recognise the achievements and commitment of a sports team/group in 2012. This award applies to teams/groups at all levels.

l Sports Personality of the Year Award for People with a Disability sponsored by Angus Disability Sport in partnership with National Oilwell. This award aims to recognise an individual with a physical, sensory or learning disability who took part in sporting activities in 2012. This award will only consider nominations for people below paralympic and elite levels.
