Arbroath athletes have a golden weekend at Fife meeting

Athletes from Arbroath and District A.C. brought home a large haul of medals from the recent Scottish Championship, with a total of eight gold, eight silver and two Bronze medals at Pitreavie Stadium in Dumfermline.

The Scottish East District Championship incorporates all athletes in clubs from the east of Scotland from the Borders to the north of Aberdeen.

The medalists for the Arbroath club included Under-13 girls’ Iona McFarlane with gold in javelin, silver in discus and silver in shot putt; Rachel Broadfoot with gold in discus, silver in javelin and bronze in shot putt.

Under-15 boys’ medals: Matthew Law with gold in discus and gold in hammer; Joel McFarlane gold in javelin, silver in high jump, silver in 80m hurdles and silver in discus.

Under-20 women: Ellen Robertson gold in triple jump.

Senior women: Michelle Durbidge gold in discus and gold in shot putt.

Senior men: Damien Murray silver in javelin, silver in discus and bronze in hammer.
