ON SATURDAY, Carnoustie had two fixtures. One team entertained Friockheim at Maule Street whilst the other visited Barnhill. There were conflicting results with a six-shot victory over Friockheim and a nine-shot defeat from Barnhill.

City of Dundee Bowling Association

IN THE City of Dundee Bowling Championships at Lochee Bowling Club on Friday, Barnhill Bowling Club’s Gary Grant won the Matt Connor Trophy singles final, beating Monifieth’s Jim Wilson.

In the J.W. Alexander Trophy triples final, Broughty Castle’s I. Duncan, W. Murphy and G. McComskie beat Broughty’s E. Smith, I. Dorricott and M. Watson and Broughty’s team of L. Kinnear, J. Walker, R. McPherson and R. Petrie were narrowly beaten by Craigie in the C.W. Milne Trophy fours final.

Results: Matt Connor Trophy, singles final - Monifieth 4, Barnhill 21. J.W. Alexander Trophy, triples final – Broughty 12, Broughty Castle 14. C.W. Milne Trophy, fours final – Craigie 13, Broughty 11.

THERE were mixed fortunes for the teams in Saturday’s friendly fixture against Abbey. The home team lost by 22 shots, but the away team had a good 17-shot victory.
